The Rancho Murieta Community Services District (CSD) crew and contractors successfully contained and repaired a major sewer leak near the yellow bridge, preventing any contamination of the Cosumnes River.

Emergency Incident Summary

  • Timeline: The leak was reported Sunday morning, May 17, 2026. Repairs were completed at midnight.
  • Infrastructure Impacted: The damaged section was the critical mainline running from the Main Lift Station North to the Water Treatment Plant.
  • Containment Efforts: Staff deployed several sewer vacuum trucks throughout the day to continuously pump the system and prevent environmental spillage.
  • Environmental Protection: Thanks to the swift, around-the-clock response of District personnel and hired contractors, zero sewage entered the river system.
