The District has been hosting 200 pairs of sheep (moms and babies) as well as nearly 400 goats to manage the weeds in our drainage ditches. Last night, it was reported that nearly 20 youths within the District were harassing the flock, removed the fencing and took out two baby sheep. We want to remind everyone that livestock are living beings, not toys and are not dispensable. The District is working diligently with RMA to identify the youths responsible and will be taking action. Moving forward the shepherds will be staying with the flock at night to protect them from future harassment. If you have any information on the activities that occurred last night or previous nights, please contact Security Supervisor Kelly Benitez at (916)873-5145.
